I Have Some Plans, If You Need Help Drop Me A Line.

This is for everybody out there who wants to build a go kart from a lawn mower engine...Forget it, there weak gutless and you need a torque converter a centrifugal clutch, proper chain not bike chain not "belts" as somebody else mentioned Belts wont give you the sturdiness you need and bike chains are to dangerours (etc snappage is easier and you could seriously lose more that an eye) I have been a Engineer for the most part of my life, I have built a number of things that work the key to it is to sit down and have a hard long think about what you want... It took me 3 years to design and build my Go kart, and it cost me next to nothing. Mild box steel 25mmX25mmX3mm thick is ideal or 26mm-od X3mm tubing will suffice, If you are serious about building a gokart email me and I will help you out, DO not how ever write me a short piece of crap just saying "I Need Some Plans" Cos you'll get ingnored..........The go kart I will teach you how to build has fully independent shocks on the front, single shock on the rear, the engine is a mid mounted side unit, it is rollcaged for safty of course, My Kart has a Kawasaki 750 she tops around 125Mph. Hi, I'm travis, 11. Me and my dad want to build a go cart out of some pipes to make a light weight tubular frame chassis, and plans for something to put an 8 hp motor in, four wheel steer if possible, two seperate racing bucket seats, full suspension, and something to go in the air.

My son, nephew and I are trying to build a go cart kind of the old fashion way. When I was younger before the before all this high tech stuff we would take old shopping carts and motors from lawn mowers and wood and some junk metal and make a cart. it didn't go real fast but it was fun doing it and just playing with it if you could help out with any information it would be great and greatly appreciated. you sound like you no what your doing so I have a i guess 1 stroke or 2 stroke enging and when i cranke it up the axle or bar that sticks out or whatever you call it spins while its idleing how can i keep the motor running but stop the axle or the metal bar on the side from spping because id ont want to take off as soon as i crank it up. if you can help thanks alot

Weedeater engine

You will need to get a clutch that fits on the shaft that sticks out and spins. This clutch will spin on the inside and when the motor makes the shaft spin faster the clutch will start to engauge. You can get a clutch with a sprocket on it that matches the chain on a bicycle or there are different sizes and pitches as well.

Need some help

My husband and I are in the planing phase of biulding a three whell cycle for me. I am in a power wheelchair and we are trying to come up with a design that will let is put an egin in a frame side ways. We have decided that it will most likley have to have a constent volisety joint dur to this angle of the engin but I don't know how else to do it with out having the front fork out so far that I would have trouble driving from my chair. were planing on making a body something like the Nippi made in the UK that will have a tail gate that will become a ramp for me to drive up into the "trike" and stay in my chair. beyond this we havent been able to work out too many of the details. He know metal shop but not Engineering so were asking for help.
