Tropical Cyclone Ivy (13P) over the New Hebrides Islands

A tropical cyclone off Vanuatu is continuing to gather strength and generate rough seas. At last report, the cyclone, codenamed Ivy, was located about 450 kilometres north of the capital, Port Vila and moving west southwest at six knots. The cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 75 knots and gusts to 90 knots and intensifying. Meanwhile, the Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre in Brisbane says winds of 40 knots are expected over the island of Tikopia in the extreme southeast of Solomon Islands with maximum gusts to 55 knots.
