Not sure if this will help, but I wrote an educational site on volcanoes for the Vanuatu government in 1996. It includes a brief bit of info on Ambae or Aoba. I have since copied the pages to my own website as background info for one of my books. Go to http://www.sonnywhitelaw.com. Click on the book, The Rhesus Factor, then select Vanuatu in the Flash menu. Scroll down to Volcanoes of Vanuatu and select Ambae (Bali Hai).
